Let’s Build Something Extraordinary.
Zerik Scales is a designer, builder, and educator dedicated to shaping the built environment through innovative architecture and real estate development. As the founder of Habitable Art, a construction company specializing in high-end, sustainable, and architecturally refined projects in the greater Los Angeles area, Zerik seamlessly blends artistry with functionality, creating spaces that inspire and endure.
Zerik is particularly known for his extensive experience working with the city on complex hillside issues and the implementation of innovative solutions for challenging hillside foundations. His solution-driven approach, paired with his expertise in navigating regulatory complexities, has made him a trusted partner for projects requiring advanced engineering and design considerations.
In addition to his work with Habitable Art, Zerik has a proven track record in luxury ground-up design builds, as well as single-family vintage renovations. His notable projects include transforming historic homes and crafting new luxury residences that exemplify both timeless elegance and modern functionality. His clients consistently praise his ability to sift through the noise and deliver the true essence of what they were seeking—bringing clarity to the design process and ensuring that every project aligns with their vision.
Zerik is also a Adjunct Professor at the University of Southern California’s Sol Price School of Public Policy, where he teaches in the Real Estate Development Department. His focus on the intersection of architecture, urban planning, and real estate equips the next generation of developers with the knowledge and vision to create meaningful, sustainable spaces.
Among his impressive portfolio, one of Zerik’s most notable projects is a 14,000-square-foot luxury home in Orlando, featuring 12 bedrooms, 15 bathrooms, a two-lane bowling alley, an indoor sports court, a 12-seat theater with an arcade, two bars, a large chef’s kitchen, and a 1,200-square-foot resort-style pool. Designed as an all-inclusive retreat, this project exemplifies his ability to merge high-end hospitality with residential luxury.
In addition to his work with Habitable Art, Zerik is a Managing Partner at East Chop Capital, a private equity firm focused on real estate development in the vacation rental space. His leadership continues to drive forward-thinking projects that shape communities and enhance the built environment.
Through his combined expertise in design, construction, and real estate investment, Zerik remains committed to pushing creative boundaries, fostering education, and developing exceptional spaces that reflect both artistic vision and functional excellence.
